Who Is True?

Who Is True?

Unless you’ve been there, it probably makes no difference to you whether it’s true that Paris, France, exists.

You probably learned about its existence in school. You’ve seen pictures; perhaps you’ve watched movies or read books about it. If someone handed you a plane ticket, you’d probably get on board with the belief that what you’ve always heard is true: that Paris, France, exists. But just because it’s true that something exists, what difference does it make?

Now consider the most faithful person you’ve ever known. She is someone on whom you can depend. When she says she’ll be somewhere, she shows up. When she tells you something, you can take it to the bank. When she makes you a promise, she keeps it. She doesn’t just speak the truth. She is true.

Truth matters. But who is true to you matters even more.

Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. —Hebrews 11:6
