Life Outside The Cave
Life Outside the Cave
Feeling the arms of your spouse around you after a fight. You and your friends laughing hysterically over a cup of coffee. Seeing an unexpected check come in the mail to help pay the bills. Taking time off work to chaperone your kid at summer youth camp. Spending the day accomplishing so much that you forgot to eat.
This is life outside the cave. It’s not as simple or familiar as the shadows of the superficial life. It will require more of you and challenge you in ways you can’t imagine. But it is the life that matters, the life that is real and true, the life that has meaning.
And you’re going to need some assistance living out here among the real, so you’ll need to get as close as you can to the source of life outside the cave . . . by raising your eyes to the Son above.
Jesus . . . said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
—John 8:12
