What’s Ahead

What’s Ahead

Living just for today can be taken to extremes.

You’ve heard of groups expecting the world to end any day. Many stock up on food and supplies. Some hide out in the mountains. Some even end their lives.

While recognizing that your life could end at any moment, you also need to plan as if you had fifty years to live. You need to live for today, but also for what’s ahead.

Planning for the future matters because your life isn’t meant to be only a series of small, ad-libbed moments. You’re also here for the great moments—finishing your education, launching your children into adulthood, celebrating decades of marriage, finally achieving a sense of contentedness and peace that had so long eluded you.

None of this happens overnight. And none of this happens without seeing a future that’s both possible and worth pursuing.

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. —Proverbs 16:3
