As Day Fades Into Night
As Day Fades into Night
You’ve had a long day.
You look back on all you did. The impacts you made, the mistakes, the laughter, the love.
You sit on your porch swing and watch as the day fades into night. The fireflies dance. The crickets serenade. It feels right to sit here and notice that time is short. And that it is all okay.
At the end of your day, or at the end of your life, imagine yourself looking back with a sense of peace. You didn’t waste your time. You welcomed new beginnings, you enjoyed each season, you didn’t allow history to repeat itself, you lived for today, you planned for tomorrow.
You defined your life by the time you were in. You lived for the One who lives outside of time.
The clock winds down, slumber beckons, and the darkness of night turns into the light of forever.
From everlasting to everlasting you are God. . . . A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death.
—Psalm 90:2, 4–5
