Target Practice

Target Practice

Perhaps you’re thinking that being present may come naturally to some but that it’s just not in your personality. You’re either too high-strung or too shy to zero in on others that way.

One, realize that you’re never going to be present in the exact way others will. And that’s okay. Two, if it matters that everyone is present, then there will be a way for you to do it too.

It’s a little like target practice. No one starts out hitting the bull’s-eye every time. They have to practice. They have to stop, focus on their target, and shoot. Will people miss? Of course, but the more they shoot, the more they’ll hit the target.

Simply remind yourself that most everyone you run into is more important than where you’re headed or what’s on your mind. Stop, focus, and shoot. Eventually, what begins as a discipline will come easily.

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
