Resolution

After all is lost, there is often new hope. Some discovery provides new energy to complete the journey. Then the package is wrapped up with a tidy bow—evil is vanquished and final victory is achieved. We have resolution.

Of course, your adventures probably won’t end so neatly.

You’ll still graduate, but you have to get a tutor and repeat the class first. You’ve had some good visits with the man in jail, and you meet another homeless woman who is interested in finding work. Your friends divorce, but you’re a listening ear to both in their suffering. You finally agree to meet your sponsor for coffee.

There will someday be a final victory and resolution to our adventures. But for now, it’s enough that we step out the door to join others on the road, refuse to give up, and press forward on to the next adventure.

Press on toward more.

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
