Give Yourself A Time-out
Give Yourself a Time-Out
Children can be terribly impatient. They stomp and cry when they have to wait for anything. Parents will then give them a time-out, teaching them that they don’t always get what they want whenever they want it.
While your adult tantrums may be more refined, you may still find yourself no more patient in waiting for the things you want. You might as well be holding your breath for all your anxiety is getting you.
Patience is an act of humility. The world doesn’t revolve around you, and you shouldn’t expect it to. Even when it comes to your more noble desires, you’ll need to give yourself a time-out each time you want the change to come faster than life is bringing it.
We’re really no more than children in pursuing the life that matters. So sit down, count to ten, and put a stopper on your hurry to get there.
Be patient and stand firm. —James 5:8
