For Better or Worse

Perhaps you’re under the impression that for you to show proper love and respect for this supreme Creator, you always have to make nice. Maybe you think you can’t ever show that you’re angry with God, confused, or frustrated. But not showing these emotions would be lying because we all feel this way sometimes.

The Bible is full of such examples. People complain to God. They bargain. They argue with Him. They cry out in anger and frustration with their plight. Jacob actually wrestled with God, demanding His blessing.

Genuine intimacy is always the product of healthy conflict resolution. If you can’t be open about your differences, your relationship will be no more than a polite fabrication.

Don’t be afraid to confront God when you’re angry, worried, or confused. He can take it. Just as with your other important relationships, if you’re going to love God for a lifetime, you must love Him for better or worse.
