Breathe It In

Breathe It In

Take the deepest breath. What can you smell? The mint from your herb garden? A casserole cooking to perfection? Brewing coffee? Fresh-cut grass? The miraculous scent of a rose?

What else passes through your senses? Perhaps it’s the laughter of children at play. The knowing look from a friend. The tingle of love when your spouse caresses your arm.

Breathe in again. What enters your soul? Hopefully it is a peace with who you are and why you’re here. An insight into life’s mysteries. A connection to God and nature and humankind. A freedom from the drudgery of superficial living. A drive to become more than who you are today.

The clock ticks with a similar rhythm to life’s breath. But when you breathe this deeply, time seems to slow and even to stop.

Stop and take notice of the things that really matter. Breathe in and breathe out. Live life to the fullest!

When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”

John 6:12
