Healing Is A Process
Healing Is a Process
There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 amp
There is no doubt that healing is a process. If we skin our knees, it takes a few days for the red blood cells to do their things and connect with the right tissue to seal the break. If we break a bone, it takes time for a callus to form around the broken bone and develop new bone growth. Emotional wounds can be a little different.
Healing is a process. Some people take short cuts in an effort to make it happen faster. Others give up altogether. Either way, healing is delayed or never happens. One thing that can help bring peace and encouragement during times of trial is accepting that instant healing might not be what Jesus has for us. The ten lepers were healed as they were going (Luke 17:11–19). The blind man had to wash in the pool of Siloam before his sight was restored (John 9:1–11).
Stories of how some people heal quickly or instantly are exciting, but they are also the exception. For most people, true healing takes time and effort. Often healing is a journey, and one that does not lie in a straight line or across flat terrain. Healing could be days or months of progress and setbacks. The fact that the process is taking longer than we think it should does not mean we are on the wrong path or we should give up. Just the contrary! Healing only comes if we are willing to move forward as best we can toward what we know will be beneficial to us.
Change, like healing, takes time.
Veronica Roth
There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.
C. S. Lewis
But more often than not, real recovery is slow. It takes time. And the deeper the wound, the more extensive the damage or trauma, the greater amount of time may be required for us to recover.

Today’s Prayer |

Lord, I admit that I grow impatient waiting for healing. I don’t understand why some people have been healed, yet you have not healed me. Please help me to focus on the process you are walking me through, for nothing will be wasted. Amen. |
