John 6 - NIV God’s Justice Bible

6:1–15 Bread That Nurtures and Challenges When Jesus miraculously feeds the crowd, it is bound to evoke memories of the exodus, when God freed his people from slavery in Egypt and miraculously provided food. Yet Jesus is not ready to become a political liberator (v. 15) or to provide a permanent source of food. He calls for a new notion of the Messiah. As the living bread from heaven, Jesus is ready to give them eternal life at the cost of his own (6:27).
