John 19 - NIV God’s Justice Bible

19:8–16 Guilty and Instrumental Pilate’s claim of absolute power over Jesus’ life is questionable. Yet God has entrusted him with authority, for which he must answer, just as must those who handed Jesus over to him. The man who truly holds all judgment (5:22) is convicted by the fleeting power of Rome pressured by the political and religious elite of Jerusalem. The keepers of God’s name and law and the representative of the political order are equally guilty. Yet through them God is accomplishing his redemptive purpose.
