John 16 - NIV God’s Justice Bible

16:8–10 Guilty! The mission of the Advocate (the Holy Spirit) to the world is presented in legal terms as an expression of God’s justice. He demonstrates the guilt of the world in three ways. Regarding sin because people refuse to believe in Jesus, the light of the world. Regarding justice because Jesus—although condemned as a blasphemer and a political threat—has returned to the Father vindicated. Regarding judgment because the crucified and exalted Son of God is victorious over Satan. Jesus has overcome the world! For that reason his disciples should not fear even when facing trouble in this rebellious but guilty order.
