How can I develop a healthier sense of self-worth?

Psalm 139:17How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!

Romans 12:3Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I [Paul} give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.

1 Peter 4:10God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

Healthy self-esteem comes from an honest appraisal of ourselves—not too proud, because our gifts and abilities were given to us by God, yet not so self-effacing that we fail to use our gifts and abilities to their full potential. Using our gifts to bless and serve others actually increases our self-worth because it takes the focus off us and allows God to work more effectively through us.
