Ecclesiastes 2:17So I came to hate life because everything done here under the sun is so troubling. Everything is meaningless—like chasing the wind.

Nothing seems worthwhile when we lose our sense of God’s presence in our lives. Life becomes meaningless and work is futile when we lose our sense of purpose, which is found when our lives are lived and our work is done to the glory of God.

Deuteronomy 8:18-19“Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath. But I assure you of this: If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, worshiping and bowing down to them, you will certainly be destroyed.”

Those who refuse to honor God will not be honored by him. If we do not worship God, we will worship other things that will lead ultimately to our destruction.
