Why doesn’t God always give me victory over my everyday problems?

Deuteronomy 7:22“The Lord your God will drive those nations out ahead of you little by little. You will not clear them away all at once, otherwise the wild animals would multiply too quickly for you.”

Psalm 37:7Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

John 16:12“Oh, there is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now.”

2 Corinthians 12:7-10So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

God often asks us to wait while leading us along a path of progressive, not immediate, victory. Why? Sometimes a slow victory teaches us to depend more completely on God. Sometimes delayed victory keeps us from the pride that can come with success. And sometimes God makes us wait to prepare us for a special task he has for us. Waiting is never time wasted by God, so don’t waste it by being anxious. We should serve God as we wait for him to accomplish the next good thing in our lives.
