Why does God want us to be worthy of others’ trust?

2 Kings 12:13-15The money brought to the Temple was not used for making silver bowls, lamp snuffers, basins, trumpets, or other articles of gold or silver for the Temple of the Lord. It was paid to the workmen, who used it for the Temple repairs. No accounting of this money was required from the construction supervisors, because they were honest and trustworthy men.

Luke 19:17“‘Well done!’ the king exclaimed. ‘You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward.’”

1 Timothy 1:12I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him.

God wants us to be trustworthy so we are fit for his service; he longs to reward our faithfulness.

Proverbs 3:29Don’t plot harm against your neighbor, for those who live nearby trust you.

Proverbs 11:13A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence.

Proverbs 25:13Trustworthy messengers refresh like snow in summer. They revive the spirit of their employer.

Trust is a key in healthy relationships. God wants us to be people who enrich the lives of others and support them in their trials, not people who gossip or spread misinformation.

Daniel 6:4Then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy.

Titus 2:9-10Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way.

He wants our lives to reflect his character and cause others to desire a relationship with him.
