When should I give thanks to the Lord?
Psalm 92:2It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.
Opening and closing our days by reminding ourselves of God’s goodness is a powerful way to build a spirit of thankfulness in our hearts.
Colossians 4:2Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.
Whenever we pray, we should give thanks.
Matthew 15:36Then he [Jesus] took the seven loaves and the fish, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to the disciples, who distributed the food to the crowd.
1 Timothy 4:3-4They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people who know the truth. Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks.
Thanking God for our food reminds us of his care for our daily needs.
Colossians 3:15Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
1 Thessalonians 5:18Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
The truth is, we should always be thankful. When life seems to fall apart, we should never sink into bitterness or ingratitude. God is always at work, and we can be thankful for the good he has promised us.
