How do I develop an attitude of thanksgiving in myself and my family?
Psalm 9:1I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.
Luke 17:16He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan.
Colossians 2:7Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
A thankful heart grows as we recognize God’s work in our lives. This growth continues as we share with others.
Psalm 92:2It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.
Philippians 1:3Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.
Colossians 3:15Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
1 Timothy 4:4Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks.
We can cultivate thankfulness by giving thanks regularly—to God and also to others. Consider setting aside time every day to think about things you are thankful for. Make a mental list of God’s blessings in your life—especially the most recent ones—and thank him for them. Don’t wait to feel thankful before giving thanks. Giving thanks leads to feeling thankful.
