How is teamwork an important part of the Christian life?

1 Corinthians 3:6-7 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.

Ephesians 4:12Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

God uses many people in our lives to bring about spiritual growth and maturity. In turn, he uses us to bless and nurture others. As a result, we now have many partners as we live and learn and work.

John 13:34-35“I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

Philippians 2:3-4Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

1 Peter 2:4-5You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor. And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.

Unity and community in the church reflect who God is. It is part of the essence of being his children to be unified—to be a team. Not only does genuine Christian love for one another motivate us to greater service and help avoid burnout, it sends a message to a watching world.
