What has been revealed about God’s strength? - Strength - TouchPoints
Job 38:4, 8, 12, 31-33“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. . . . Who kept the sea inside its boundaries as it burst from the womb, . . . Have you ever commanded the morning to appear and caused the dawn to rise in the east? . . . Can you direct the movement of the stars—binding the cluster of the Pleiades or loosening the cords of Orion? Can you direct the constellations through the seasons or guide the Bear with her cubs across the heavens? Do you know the laws of the universe? Can you use them to regulate the earth?”
Psalm 29:3-11The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; he makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lightning. The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!” The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as king forever. The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.
Psalm 65:6You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength.
Psalm 68:34Tell everyone about God’s power. His majesty shines down on Israel; his strength is mighty in the heavens.
Psalm 104:1-3, 32Let all that I am praise the Lord. O Lord my God, how great you are! You are robed with honor and majesty. You are dressed in a robe of light. You stretch out the starry curtain of the heavens; you lay out the rafters of your home in the rain clouds. You make the clouds your chariot; you ride upon the wings of the wind. . . . The earth trembles at his glance; the mountains smoke at his touch.
Isaiah 40:12, 25-26Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale? . . . “To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One. Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.
Jeremiah 10:12The Lord made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding he stretched out the heavens.
Jeremiah 32:17“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!”
Romans 1:20Ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Hebrews 1:2-3Now in these final days, he [God] has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
God’s mighty power is evident in his creation. God created and sustains the universe. There is no greater strength.
Job 42:2“I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you.”
Psalm 46:8-10Come, see the glorious works of the Lord: See how he brings destruction upon the world. He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
Psalm 115:3Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes.
Psalm 135:6The Lord does whatever pleases him throughout all heaven and earth, and on the seas and in their depths.
Isaiah 14:24The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sworn this oath: “It will all happen as I have planned. It will be as I have decided.”
Isaiah 40:23He judges the great people of the world and brings them all to nothing.
Jeremiah 27:5“With my great strength and powerful arm I made the earth and all its people and every animal. I can give these things of mine to anyone I choose.”
Daniel 4:35“All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him, ‘What do you mean by doing these things?’”
Human strength is not a minimized version of God’s strength. His power is in a different category entirely. We are made in his image; but our power is severely limited compared to his limitless power.
Acts 17:24-26“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. . . . From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.”
Ephesians 1:11Because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.
God’s strength is revealed in his sovereign providence over all things. Nothing happens without God directing it or allowing it. God not only provides all good things, but he continually manages them as well.
Acts 9:21All who heard him [Saul, later known as Paul] were amazed. “Isn’t this the same man who caused such devastation among Jesus’ followers in Jerusalem?” they asked. “And didn’t he come here to arrest them and take them in chains to the leading priests?”
Ephesians 1:19-20I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
A life transformed is evidence of God’s power to break the bonds of death, which he demonstrated in raising Jesus from the dead.
John 11:25-26Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”
1 Corinthians 15:54-55Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
2 Peter 3:7By the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.
Revelation 6:15-17Then everyone—the kings of the earth, the rulers, the generals, the wealthy, the powerful, and every slave and free person—all hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. And they cried to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. For the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to survive?”
Revelation 18:8“Therefore, these plagues will overtake her in a single day—death and mourning and famine. She will be completely consumed by fire, for the Lord God who judges her is mighty.”
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9He [Jesus] will come with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.
Only God has the power over death, the authority to judge sin, and the right to determine people’s eternal fate.
Exodus 6:6“Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the Lord. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment.’”

Deuteronomy 4:34, 37“Has any other god dared to take a nation for himself out of another nation by means of trials, miraculous signs, wonders, war, a strong hand, a powerful arm, and terrifying acts? Yet that is what the Lord your God did for you in Egypt, right before your eyes. . . . Because he loved your ancestors, he chose to bless their descendants, and he personally brought you out of Egypt with a great display of power.”
2 Samuel 22:2-3He [David] sang: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence.”

God’s people recognize his powerful works. Every sunrise and sunset speaks of his majesty. Every snowflake reveals his creativity. Every fruit and berry is a symbol of his amazing and appropriate provision.
