How does salvation affect my life each day?

Colossians 2:6-7Now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

The same trusting acceptance that brings about salvation carries over into everyday life as we follow Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Salvation not only gives us hope for eternity, but also hope for today. We have been given a new life and new power for living.

Romans 6:6-8We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.

Being saved means being freed from the power of sin and being free to live a new life. Continued enslavement means we are believing a lie about our condition, settling for the ongoing life of a slave when we are actually free.

Romans 5:1-2Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

Salvation leads to having peace with God.

Ephesians 2:8-10God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

God created each of us for a purpose. His original masterpiece, marred by sin, he has “created anew” for effective service in this world and our eternal life in the next. Salvation enables us to fulfill God’s purpose by his power at work within us.
