Psalm 50:15“Call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”

Daniel 6:20-27When he got there, he called out in anguish, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?” Daniel answered, “Long live the king! My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.” . . . Then King Darius sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world: . . . “I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. Jude 1:24Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.

When God rescues us, we should give him glory, praising him for who he is and for what he has done.

1 Samuel 2:1Then Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me.”

Psalm 9:14Save me so I can praise you publicly at Jerusalem’s gates, so I can rejoice that you have rescued me.

When God rescues us, we should rejoice, praising and thanking God for his deliverance.

Psalm 13:5I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me.

Psalm 40:1-3I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.

When God rescues us, we should deepen our trust and dependence on him.

Psalm 56:12-13I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help. For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.

Luke 8:38-39The man who had been freed from the demons begged to go with him. But Jesus sent him home, saying, “No, go back to your family, and tell them everything God has done for you.” So he went all through the town proclaiming the great things Jesus had done for him.

John 5:14Afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.”

When God rescues us, we should commit to obeying him and living his way.

Exodus 18:8Moses told his father-in-law everything the Lord had done to Pharaoh and Egypt on behalf of Israel. He also told about all the hardships they had experienced along the way and how the Lord had rescued his people from all their troubles.

Psalm 71:4, 15My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of cruel oppressors. . . . I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words.

John 9:25“I don’t know whether he is a sinner,” the man replied. “But I know this: I was blind, and now I can see!”

Acts 5:19-20An angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, “Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”

When God rescues us, we should tell others what he has done.
