How should redemption change the way I live?

Psalm 107:2Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.

The fact that we have been redeemed should cause us to tell others about what God has done for us—the gospel story.

1 Corinthians 7:23God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world.

Remembering the price paid for our salvation should keep us from returning to our sinful ways and becoming enslaved by the world (see 1 John 2:16).

Isaiah 43:1-2Now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”

Because we have been redeemed and belong to God, we can live with confidence, knowing that he is with us in every situation.

Ephesians 5:2Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

Remembering what Christ did for us on the cross should motivate us to live a love-filled life.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

When we fully understand redemption—that we now belong to God and have his Spirit living in us—we will honor God with our bodies, taking care of them and avoiding sexual sin.

Titus 2:14He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

Because we are free from sin, we should live like God’s very own children and be totally committed to doing what is right, positive, and helpful.
