How can I change my heart of rebellion to a heart God desires?

Ezekiel 18:31“Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel?”

Ezekiel 36:26-27“I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.”

Matthew 22:37Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’”

God will give us new hearts when we humble ourselves before him, turn away from sinful habits, and make a daily effort to connect with him. When we do this, our love for him will grow. He can change even the hardest heart of stone into an obedient and loving heart.

Romans 3:24-25Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past.

Faith is our lifeline to God. Sin breaks our relationship with God because it is rebellion against him. All who accept Jesus as Savior, repenting of sin and asking him for forgiveness are made righteous in God’s sight. In other words, God looks at them as though they had never sinned. We can live free from guilt and confident of eternal life.
