What should be my priority concerning the pursuit of money?

Proverbs 3:9-10Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.

Proverbs 23:4Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit.

Proverbs 27:24Riches don’t last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation.

Matthew 6:19-21, 24“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. . . . No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

1 Timothy 6:9People who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.

Pursue most what lasts longest and strengthens life the best. Practice disciplines like tithing and generosity that will keep the desire for earthy wealth in check and encourage the pursuit of heavenly treasure. The Lord will be around forever, long after material the things of this world have disappeared! He will give greater joy than riches ever could.
