With all my faults and failures, how can I possibly enter God’s presence?

John 14:6Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Romans 5:2Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

2 Corinthians 5:21God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Ephesians 2:18Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

Ephesians 3:12Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

Colossians 1:22Now he [God] has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

Hebrews 10:19-22We can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

A holy God cannot be in the presence of sin, so how can a sinful person experience God’s presence? It is because of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection—and our faith in him. He died and took the punishment for our sins. If we have asked Jesus to forgive our sins, as far as God is concerned, we now stand holy and blameless in his presence. He sees us as if we have never sinned and welcomes us into his presence.
