Is it really possible to experience God’s presence today?

Matthew 28:20“Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Hebrews 10:22-24Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.

During Old Testament times, God’s presence was expressed in more limited ways. For example, the high priest could enter the Most Holy Place only once a year. But when Jesus died for our sins, the veil between us and God was torn away, and we can now enter freely into his presence. Don’t take for granted the privilege that is ours to enter directly into the very presence of God. When Jesus said, “I am with you always,” he was including today.

Ephesians 3:12Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

Colossians 1:22Now he [God] has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

When we have a free pass to an event, we don’t hesitate to enter. We are given the privilege of admission based on the generosity of the giver. Our faith in Jesus Christ is God’s free pass into his presence. When we put our trust in Jesus Christ, we can enter God’s presence with confidence.
