How does God’s power help me to make the greatest impact? - Power of God - TouchPoints
Ezra 10:5-6So Ezra stood up and demanded that the leaders of the priests and the Levites and all the people of Israel swear that they would do as Shecaniah had said. And they all swore a solemn oath. Then Ezra left the front of the Temple of God and went to the room of Jehohanan son of Eliashib. He spent the night there without eating or drinking anything. He was still in mourning because of the unfaithfulness of the returned exiles.
Ezra’s passionate grief over Israel’s sin gathered a crowd and softened their hearts so that they responded positively to his call for repentance. Don’t underestimate the power of one. When you have few supporters, it is easy to become discouraged. But courageous individuals, through the power of God’s Spirit, have always made a difference. (For just a few examples, see Judges 6-7; 1 Samuel 17; 2 Chronicles 22:10-12, and the book of Esther.) Do whatever God calls you to do, even if you do it alone. Fear counts friends and concludes there aren’t enough. Faith has a different calculation: One plus God’s power equals impact.
Acts 1:8You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Romans 1:16-17I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
Colossians 1:28-29So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.
God demonstrates his power by working through you despite your limitations. Your primary contribution is availability and willingness to be the vehicle or channel God uses. As a believer, the Holy Spirit already dwells in you, equipping and empowering you to serve God in the spread of the Good News—the greatest accomplishment.
