How can I find peace within?
Isaiah 9:6-7For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
John 14:27-29“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.”
Lasting peace comes only from Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. He confirmed this Old Testament prophecy with his own promise. His rule over all creation as well as in your life ensures it.
Psalm 3:5I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me.
Psalm 4:8In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
Psalm 29:11The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.
Psalm 32:7You are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.
Peace comes from knowing that God is always watching over us day and night. This doesn’t mean that our bodies will never be harmed, but it does mean that God will never let Satan snatch us away from God. We can have absolute confidence that we will be his forever.
Philippians 4:6-7Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Prayer is the gateway to peace. Our spirits will lighten as we unburden our soul to the Lord and replace each worry with gratitude. His peace is like a guard on patrol, protecting us from assaults of anxiety or concern.
Galatians 5:22The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
The Holy Spirit brings peace of mind and heart when given control of our lives. Peace of mind develops as the Holy Spirit guides us into God’s purposes for our lives, giving us an eternal perspective. Peace of heart comes as the Holy Spirit guides us into productive living and comforts us in times of trouble.
Isaiah 26:3You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
We find peace when we turn our eyes from our problems and rivet our attention on God in trust. This does not necessarily mean peaceful external circumstances, but it does lead to an internal calm that can change our hearts no matter what and sometimes even influence our environment.
