How can I deal with obstacles that are too great for me to overcome?

John 16:33“I [Jesus] have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Romans 3:23Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Romans 5:17The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:37No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

1 Corinthians 15:54-57When our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

We live in a sinful world, and we are sinners. So our natural default setting is to sin. We can never overcome sin in our own strength, only through the power of sin through the Holy Spirt working in and through us.

Psalm 119:133Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.

Romans 6:12-13Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

Romans 12:21Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

1 Timothy 6:11You, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

1 John 2:13-14I am writing to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I am writing to you who are young in the faith because you have won your battle with the evil one. I have written to you who are God’s children because you know the Father. I have written to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I have written to you who are young in the faith because you are strong. God’s word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one.

1 John 5:3-5Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

We cannot overcome our fallen human nature on our own; we need the power of God and his Holy Spirit.

Philippians 3:21He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.

Hebrews 3:14If we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.

Some victories will have to wait for eternity.
