What does God promise to those who obey him? - Obedience - TouchPoints
John 14:21“Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”
John 15:14“You are my friends if you do what I command.”
1 John 5:3Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.
God promises that those who obey him will enjoy a close relationship with him.
Psalm 1:1-3Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
God promises that those who obey him will enjoy a fulfilling and productive life. When we obey, we have a clear conscience and uninterrupted fellowship with God. We honor and respect other people and try to work with them rather than against them. We give our time and energy to things that last and are valued by God.
Psalm 84:11The Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.
2 Corinthians 9:13-14As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you.
God says that we glorify him by obeying him and this allows us to minister to others. As a river flows freely through an unblocked channel, so God’s grace and blessings flow through us when we follow his ways. When we obey God, our lives become open channels through which his love and mercy can flow to others.
