How will the Lord help me obey him? - Obedience - TouchPoints

Philippians 2:12-13Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

When God requires something of us, God empowers us to get it done. Not only does God guide us into the ways that are best for us, but he also gives us the power to live according to those ways.

John 14:15-17“If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”

God gives us the power to obey through his own Holy Spirit, who is also called our Advocate and Counselor. He comes alongside us not only to advise and inspire us, but actually to live and work within us, empowering our obedience.

James 1:25If you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

Following God’s word sets us free from slavery to sin and all its ugly consequences, allowing us to obey God fully and enjoy all his wonderful blessings.
