Hebrews 10:25Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

We neglect God when we neglect “meeting together” with other believers to worship him and to serve each other.

Deuteronomy 17:20“This regular reading [of Scripture] will prevent him [the king] from becoming proud and acting as if he is above his fellow citizens. It will also prevent him from turning away from these commands in the smallest way. And it will ensure that he and his descendants will reign for many generations in Israel.”

Matthew 7:26“But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.”

Hebrews 2:1We must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

James 1:23-25If you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

We neglect God when we ignore his word, the Bible.

Galatians 6:7Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.

Hebrews 2:3So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?

We neglect God when we ignore his offer of salvation.

James 4:17Remember, it is sin to know what we ought to do and then not do it.

We neglect God when we ignore and don’t obey what we know to be right, rejecting God’s instructions to us.

For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. We neglect God when we treat our relationship with him like a chore. Attending church and donating money, even if it shows self-sacrifice, is no replacement for desiring to know and love God more. If our faith does not lead to a greater love for God and others, we have neglected what matters most to him.

Matthew 7:7-8“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Ephesians 6:18Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Philippians 4:6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

1 Thessalonians 5:17Never stop praying.

James 4:2You don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.
