How do I exercise meekness?

Proverbs 15:1A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.

We can exercise meekness by defusing anger with gentleness.

Luke 6:28-29“Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also.”

We can exercise meekness by praying for our enemies and doing good for them.

James 1:19Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.

We can exercise meekness by listening to people and treating them with respect.

Matthew 5:38-39“You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also.”

We can exercise meekness by not responding in kind to insults and even abuse.
