What should my attitude be regarding lying?
Proverbs 30:8First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
We should live with a firm priority for truth in our daily choices.
Psalm 43:1Declare me innocent, O God! Defend me against these ungodly people. Rescue me from these unjust liars.
Psalm 120:2Rescue me, O Lord, from liars and from all deceitful people.
Matthew 10:16“Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.”
We can pray for God’s protection and deliverance from the effects of others’ deceit. Though we are not to be deceitful ourselves, we should be wise and discerning about others.
Psalm 119:163I hate and abhor all falsehood, but I love your instructions.
Proverbs 13:5The godly hate lies; the wicked cause shame and disgrace.
Ephesians 4:25So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.
Colossians 3:9Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.
We should hate lies because they are part of the old sinful nature to which we were slaves before we were Christians.
