What are the benefits of God’s love for me?

Psalm 23:1-6The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Proverbs 3:5-6Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

John 16:33“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

The fact that God loves us does not mean he will make our path always smooth and easy. In fact, Jesus promises that the world will bring us trouble! But he also promises to guide us, care for us, and direct us to a wonderful destination regardless of what we face.

Psalm 31:7I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul.

Hebrews 4:14-16Since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. God understands our weaknesses and struggles, and his loving response is not to condemn us, but to restore us!

Psalm 103:8The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.

Hebrews 13:5Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

While we may struggle to keep loving others, God’s love for us continues. He never tires or gives up on us. He is not subject to our human whims, moods, irritability, or bad temper. We can trust that his love is indeed unfailing. He will never turn his back on us.

1 Corinthians 2:9That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”

Real love wants to share its best with those it loves. God loves us and will share his best with us for all eternity.
