I’m discouraged by the poor quality of my leaders. Can they improve?

1 Timothy 2:2Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

As long as we can pray, we can hope. We should pray that God will improve our leaders. Even if we do not like a leader, we are called to pray for God’s guidance over them.

Jeremiah 1:4-5The Lord gave me this message: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

Rather than complain about current leadership from the sidelines, we should consider whether God is calling us to support our leaders directly or to take a leadership role ourselves.

Psalm 146:3, 5Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. . . . But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.

When considering our leaders, we should remember that even the best human leadership is imperfect and that God is the only leader who will never fail.
