How can leaders inspire hope?

Deuteronomy 11:9“If you obey, you will enjoy a long life in the land the Lord swore to give to your ancestors and to you, their descendants—a land flowing with milk and honey!”

Leaders inspire hope by presenting their people with a positive vision of the future.

Exodus 14:13-14Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

Nehemiah 4:20“When you hear the blast of the trumpet, rush to wherever it is sounding. Then our God will fight for us!”

Leaders inspire hope through their words and their example of confidence in God.

Deuteronomy 7:17-18“Perhaps you will think to yourselves, ‘How can we ever conquer these nations that are so much more powerful than we are?’ But don’t be afraid of them! Just remember what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all the land of Egypt.”

Leaders inspire hope by reminding people of past victories—especially the victories that demonstrate the power and faithfulness of God.

Nehemiah 5:9Then I pressed further, “What you are doing is not right! Should you not walk in the fear of our God in order to avoid being mocked by enemy nations?”

Leaders inspire hope by having the courage to confront wrongdoing, setting an example for those they lead.
