How does God show kindness to me?

Psalm 145:8, 17The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to get angry, full of unfailing love . . . The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness.

Romans 11:6And if they are saved by God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s wonderful kindness would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.

Psalm 116:5How kind the Lord is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours!

Galatians 1:15But then something happened! For it pleased God in his kindness to choose me and call me, even before I was born! What undeserved mercy!

Romans 5:8But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

God gives us mercy when we don’t deserve it. He is patient with us and doesn’t lash out when we do something wrong. He loves us unconditionally. God didn’t just create kindness, he is kindness itself. Everything he does for us is an act of kindness to help us become whom he created us to be.

Luke 6:35Love your enemies! Do good to them! Lend to them! And don’t be concerned that they might not repay. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to the unthankful and to those who are wicked.

Jeremiah 32:18You show unfailing love to thousands, but you also bring the consequences of one generation’s sin upon the next. You are the great and powerful God, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

You are loving and kind to thousands, though children suffer for their parents’ sins. You are the great and powerful God, the Lord Almighty.

Exodus 33:19The Lord replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, ‘the Lord,’ to you. I will show kindness to anyone I choose, and I will show mercy to anyone I choose.”

When we rebel against God, he loves us anyway. When we are resisting God and feel God isn’t being kind to us, our stubbornness may be keeping us from seeing his kindness all around us.

Titus 3:4-5But then God our Savior showed us his kindness and love. He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins . . .

2 Corinthians 6:1-3As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it. For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry.

Romans 3:24-25Yet now God in his gracious kindness declares us not guilty. He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God’s anger against us. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us. God was being entirely fair and just when he did not punish those who sinned in former times.

Ephesians 2:6-7For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:10In his kindness God called you to his eternal glory by means of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:6-8 . . . So we praise God for the wonderful kindness he has poured out on us because we belong to his dearly loved Son. He is so rich in kindness that he purchased our freedom through the blood of his Son, and our sins are forgiven. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

God forgives our sins and offers us salvation – a guarantee of living forever with him in heaven. If God were not kind, we would get the punishment we deserve. Because of his kindness, we’ve been given  forgiveness we don’t deserve.

Romans 2:4Don’t you realize how kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Or don’t you care? Can’t you see how kind he has been in giving you time to turn from your sin?

2 Peter 3:9The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

God shows his kindness by giving people time to turn from their sin and turn to him.

Acts 14:17but he never left himself without a witness. There were always his reminders, such as sending you rain and good crops and giving you food and joyful hearts.

Hosea 11:4I led Israel along with my ropes of kindness and love. I lifted the yoke from his neck, and I myself stooped to feed him.

In God’s kindness, he doesn’t just comfort us with empty talk—he meets our needs. God’s kindness has hands and feet.

Nehemiah 9:17They refused to listen and did not remember the miracles you had done for them. Instead, they rebelled and appointed a leader to take them back to their slavery in Egypt! But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and full of unfailing love and mercy. You did not abandon them . . .

Psalm 106:43-46Again and again he rescued them, but they chose to rebel against him, and they were finally destroyed by their sin. Even so, he pitied them in their distress and listened to their cries. He remembered his covenant with them and relented because of his unfailing love. He even caused their captors to treat them with kindness.

Joel 2:13Don’t tear your clothing in your grief; instead, tear your hearts. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful. He is not easily angered. He is filled with kindness and is eager not to punish you.

Romans 5:20-21God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant. [21] So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
