How should I feel about facing God’s judgment?

Psalm 9:8He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.

Revelation 21:27Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

The final event of history is a two-fold judgment: (1) God will judge all people who have ever lived to determine whether they should enter heaven or hell. This will be based solely on whether or not they have trusted in Christ alone as Savior. This is the judgment we should fear if we have not accepted Jesus as our Savior and asked him to forgive our sins. (2) God will judge the deeds of all those who enter heaven and give rewards based on them. This second judgment does not determine whether or not we get into heaven but what rewards we receive when we get there.
