How can I find security in who I am?
Zephaniah 3:17“The Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
We can find security in who we are by remembering that God delights in us! Like a father and mother rejoicing in the birth of a child, a bride and groom rejoicing over each other, or best friends celebrating after years of separation, so the Lord exults over us.
Matthew 5:13-16“You are the salt of the earth. . . . You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
God has made us the salt and light of the earth. He has given us the privilege of influencing this world with the message of his love and truth.
Romans 8:15-16So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.
We are God’s own children. When we let this truth drown out the false feelings of worthlessness, we find deep joy and lasting security.
