Should I fight prideful thoughts and feelings, even in doing God’s work?

Matthew 6:1“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.”

Acts 20:19“I have done the Lord’s work humbly and with many tears. I have endured the trials that came to me from the plots of the Jews.”

We could easily to do the Lord’s work with great pride. After all, his work is the most wonderful work in all the world. But Paul recognized that doing God’s work is serving, which takes humility. Those who are proud are not good at serving.
