What does someone filled with the Holy Spirit look like?

Galatians 5:22-23The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

The Holy Spirit produces many good qualities in our lives. This doesn’t mean, for instance, that everyone who is kind is a Christian or even that all Christians are kind. It does mean, however, that all Christians should be becoming kinder through the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Acts 4:8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, . . .

Acts 4:31After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.

Acts 7:54-55The Jewish leaders were infuriated by Stephen’s accusation, and they shook their fists at him in rage. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

The Holy Spirit fills us with boldness to speak his truth. Even after being arrested and interrogated, Peter was bold in speaking God’s truth. Even when his life was in danger, Stephen was a bold witness of Christ’s coming glory. When we have the Holy Spirit working in us and we are prayerfully following his prompting, we can speak and act with this same boldness, knowing God’s will shall be done.
