In what ways is God holy?

Joshua 24:19Then Joshua warned the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord, for he is a holy and jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.”

1 Samuel 6:20“Who is able to stand in the presence of the Lord, this holy God?” they cried out. “Where can we send the Ark from here?”

1 John 1:5This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.

God is completely separate from sin and evil. He is perfect and has no sin in him.

Hebrews 7:26He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.

1 John 3:5You know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.

Jesus Christ is completely holy because he is completely free of sin.

Isaiah 6:3They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”

God is dazzling and glorious in his absolute purity.

Amos 4:2The Sovereign Lord has sworn this by his holiness.

When God makes a promise, his holiness ensures that he will always do what he says.

Matthew 13:41“The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.”

God’s holiness will not tolerate evil in his eternal Kingdom.

Isaiah 63:15-16Lord, look down from heaven; look from your holy, glorious home, and see us.

God’s holiness is so glorious that it overflows from heaven.
