What does God’s hand bring to me in this world today?

James 1:17Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.

Everything good and perfect comes from God’s hand.

Job 2:10“Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong.

James 1:2-4Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Sometimes God withdraws his hand and allows (not causes) bad things to happen to good people. Why? Because his long-range eternal plans for our greater good may not fit our short-range view of comfort. Often, our struggle is necessary for growth.

Ecclesiastes 2:24-25So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God. For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?

The pleasure that comes from God’s provision in our lives transcends the pleasure of the provisions themselves. For example, we enjoy God’s good gift of daily food even more when we recognize the gift is from him. He is source of everything that is good.
