How can I pass on good habits to my family? - Habits - TouchPoints
Deuteronomy 11:19“Teach them [the Lord’s words] to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”
1 Corinthians 9:25All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.
1 Timothy 4:12Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
When we make God part of our daily life in a disciplined way, we will leave a more godly example to those who come after us. Children learn by example. Hopefully they will be noticing more good habits from their parents than bad.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7“And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”
We should be purposeful in teaching good thoughts and habits to our children. This involves explaining why we follow God and how we have seen him work in our lives. We must make a habit of passing on a godly heritage.
