What are some principles of giving for those in Christian work?

Numbers 18:25-26The Lord also told Moses, “Give these instructions to the Levites: When you receive from the people of Israel the tithes I have assigned as your allotment, give a tenth of the tithes you receive—a tithe of the tithe—to the Lord as a sacred offering.”

Those who live on tithes and offerings are not exempt from giving back to the Lord.

Joshua 18:7“The Levites, however, will not receive any allotment of land. Their role as priests of the Lord is their allotment.”

1 Timothy 5:17-18Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “You must not muzzle an ox to keep it from eating as it treads out the grain.” And in another place, “Those who work deserve their pay!”

Those in full-time Christian work often forgo material wealth and, therefore, an inheritance to pass along to their children. They and their families need the support of their community of faith.
