How does God give?

1 Timothy 2:6He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

God gives sacrificially. He gave his Son to become human and give up his own life so that we could have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 8:9You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.

God gives unselfishly. He shares everything he has with us.

Mark 8:6-9So Jesus told all the people to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to his disciples, who distributed the bread to the crowd. A few small fish were found, too, so Jesus also blessed these and told the disciples to distribute them. They ate as much as they wanted. Afterward, the disciples picked up seven large baskets of leftover food. There were about 4,000 men in the crowd that day, and Jesus sent them home after they had eaten.

2 Corinthians 9:8God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

Ephesians 4:7-8However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ. That is why the Scriptures say, “When he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.”

God gives generously and abundantly. His gifts to us are beyond our imagination.

Joel 2:23-24Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring. The threshing floors will again be piled high with grain, and the presses will overflow with new wine and olive oil.

God gives faithfully, and provides for us in every season.

Ecclesiastes 2:26God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.

Matthew 25:15“He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip.”

1 Corinthians 12:11It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

God gives personally. He plans thoughtful gifts according to our abilities and character.

John 3:16“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Acts 11:17“Since God gave these Gentiles the same gift he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to stand in God’s way?”

God gives without discrimination. He made people of all nations, tribes, dialects, races, and ethnic groups and sees them as equal.

Romans 5:8God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

God gave us his greatest gift when we deserved it least. The gift of salvation is not based on our merit but on his goodness.

James 1:5If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

God gives without resentment. He is a joyful, cheerful giver.
