What are some promises I can look forward to in my future with God?
1 John 3:2Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.
We will one day be like Christ. We will not be equal to him in power and authority, but we will be like him in character and perfection, because those who are welcomed into heaven have no sin.
Jeremiah 29:11“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
This promise to Israel is also true for all who trust in him. The great plans God has for us will someday be revealed and fulfilled. So we should spend today seeking to know God better. Then tomorrow, we will better know his plans for us.
John 14:1-4“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.”
When we die, we will go to live with Christ in his home forever.
Titus 3:7Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
1 Peter 1:4-5We have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.
We will inherit the heavenly riches reserved for God’s children.
Revelation 3:5“All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.”
We will wear the garments of heaven and be identified with Christ.
Revelation 21:4“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
In heaven we will no longer hurt, cry, have pain, or experience sorrow. Evil will be gone forever.
Colossians 3:4When Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.
We will share the glory that belongs to Christ.
Zechariah 14:9The Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.
1 Corinthians 15:24After that the end will come, when he will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power.
Revelation 11:15Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices shouting in heaven: “The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.”
We will be part of an eternal Kingdom ruled by the Lord God himself. It will be free from God’s enemies.
Luke 23:43Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
1 Thessalonians 4:17Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.
1 Thessalonians 5:10Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever.
When we die, we will live forever with Christ in heaven.
Matthew 26:64Jesus replied, “You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Acts 1:11“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
In the future, we will see Christ return again to earth.
1 Corinthians 15:52It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.
When Christ returns to earth, he will raise up those who believed in him with transformed bodies that will never die.
Isaiah 25:7-8There he will remove the cloud of gloom, the shadow of death that hangs over the earth. He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Lord will wipe away all tears. He will remove forever all insults and mockery against his land and people. The Lord has spoken!
2 Thessalonians 2:8The man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming.
Hebrews 2:14Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.
Christ will break the power of death and of Satan.
